Heartfelt Thoughts.

I have been thinking about writing this post for a long time. I’ve had some of it written for a long time. But now I think it’s finally time to post it. Steve brought it up yesterday and encouraged me to write it and share it. So, I apologize for the length of this post. Please be patient with my somewhat unintelligible writing. This was a difficult post to write. I tried to keep some of the emotion out so it’s not too much of a downer, but I feel like I need to share this. Here goes.

Rewind to February 2010. We decided to really try to start our family. The first few months were filled with excitement and anticipation, but by the time January 2011 came around, we were getting a bit discouraged. I was also having some other issues, so I went in to a doctor in Logan. When I explained my issues and that we had been trying to get pregnant for about a year, he recommended some blood tests. After running them twice, they all came back fine and I was referred to an OB/GYN. She was awesome. She prescribed Clomid for me. (The same fertility medication my mom used to get pregnant with me!) I used it one month, and the blood tests showed that it hadn’t worked. So we upped the amount, and tried again. I found out I was pregnant on May 28, 2011. It was the day after the last day of school. We were absolutely thrilled. The only other day I’ve been that happy is when I married Steve. We couldn’t wait to tell our families! We thought about waiting until after our Dr. appointment, but after about a week we couldn’t keep it secret anymore. We were just too excited. So, we told both of our immediate families the first week of June. I’m glad we did.

June 10, 2011. My birthday. We were in Cedar City for Dan and Brittney’s wedding. I had been spotting for a couple days, but my Dr. said it was normal and nothing to worry about. They thought maybe I had just worked too hard in the days before. (We were packing to move to Wyoming). The morning of the 10th, we went to Dan and Brittney’s sealing. It was beautiful. We went to the luncheon, and then came back to Cedar City. I called my doctor to get more reassurance, and they said it was still fine. If I saw red blood, I should go to the ER. (So far it had just been brown/pink) That evening there was a ring ceremony right before the reception. We went out to that, and then came back to Steve’s parents’ house before the reception. Steve had a paper he had to finish and submit that weekend. At about 8:00, just as we were preparing to go back to the reception, I started bleeding. We panicked, I cried, and we drove to the ER. They hooked me to an IV, did blood tests, and ultrasounds. At about 11:30 I was discharged, and we were told that we had lost the baby. I left with pain pills and instructions on what to do next. I remember breaking down just as we got to the car. I couldn’t believe that after all this work, we had lost our precious baby. Even though I was just 6 weeks, I loved that baby with all my heart. I called my mom to tell her, and then we drove home to tell Steve’s family. Steve sat with me in the car once we got to his parents’ house for a good 10 minutes while I bawled my eyes out. Then we went straight to bed. The next day, the pain hit. It was like cramps, but 10 times worse. I couldn’t move. I hated the pain because I knew I wouldn’t get anything good out of it at the end. I felt very emotionally numb. That day we drove up to Salt Lake. The car ride was torture. I was fortunate because I didn’t need a D&C, but it killed me when I realized that my body had passed my baby in the gas station off the side of I-15. We spent a couple days in Salt Lake. Those days all blur together. It was very hard for me to wrap my head around what had happened. We were faced with other challenges as they wanted me to have more blood tests, my Dr. was out of town, etc. After spending hours back and forth on the phone with Dr.s we finally got the blood test, but they did the wrong one. It felt like the nightmare just wouldn’t end. But it did. We got back to Logan, life got back to normal, and my Dr. renewed my Clomid prescription and said we could try again. So we did.

Mid August 2011. We discovered that we were pregnant again. I was thrilled, but terrified. I kept telling myself it would be okay. I knew I couldn’t go through that pain again. August 25, right before the 6 week mark, I started spotting again. All the emotions came back in an instant. I called my Dr. in Laramie in a panic, and they set up a time to see me right away. After a couple days and a couple blood tests, I was told that I had miscarried again. I felt like my heart shattered. I set up a time to return in 2 weeks so they could make sure my blood levels were back to normal before we started trying again. I endured the pain again, and my emotions were rubbed raw. I returned in 2 weeks and they did the blood tests again. My earlier tests had been in the low 20s, and we were expecting a number near 0. My HCG was in the 300s. I called the on call doctor and explained what had happened. He listened to my whole story, and then told me to come in first thing in the morning. So began the hardest month of my life. For the next month, I was at the Dr.s office at least once a week, and up to 4 times a week. I spent just as much time at the hospital having my blood drawn. They continued monitoring my numbers and performing ultrasounds. My HCG just kept going up, but very slowly. Some other symptoms I had had earlier, but not associated with pregnancy, began to make more sense. They believed I had an ectopic pregnancy. I was very fortunate to have wonderful doctors (I worked with all 3 in the clinic during this time). They allowed me to make my own decisions. Because an ectopic pregnancy can rupture and put the mother in danger, they recommended treating it right away. But because they never could find it on the ultrasound, I didn’t feel comfortable with the shot or the surgery. They allowed me to wait, but I was instructed to take it easy- no running. I was also fortunate to have very understanding employers. They allowed me to leave at lunch to zip to the hospital, or leave 10 minutes early to make it to an appointment. They were all very good to me during that time. Steve’s parents informed us that they were having a fast for us in October. At my next Dr. visit, the number started going down. It was taking care of itself. By the beginning of November, my number was back to 0 and I was able to stop going to the Dr. I could run again. I was able to try to get my life back again. Now I’m finally feeling back to myself.

The past 6 months have been an emotional rollercoaster. I have gone through emotional and physical pain like I never knew. Most of these months, I could not look at pregnant women without crying. I couldn’t stand holding babies. I was angry and hurting. I spent a lot of time on my knees, pleading for help. More recently, I have started feeling that help. I have felt the prayers offered by friends and family members. I have felt the strength of the Lord helping me along. I found great comfort in a quote by President Richard G. Scott.

“When you face adversity, you can be led to ask many questions. Some serve a useful purpose; others do not. To ask, Why does this have to happen to me? Why do I have to suffer this, now? What have I done to cause this? will lead you into blind alleys. It really does no good to ask questions that reflect opposition to the will of God. Rather ask, What am I to do? What am I to learn from this experience? What am I to change? Whom am I to help? How can I remember my many blessings in times of trial? Willing sacrifice of deeply held personal desires in favor of the will of God is very hard to do. Yet, when you pray with real conviction, “Please let me know Thy will” and “May Thy will be done,” you are in the strongest position to receive the maximum help from your loving Father.”

(Read the whole talk HERE)

Although it has been hard to let go of what I want right now, I have felt greater peace as I strive to submit my will to my Heavenly Father’s will. I’m still working on this. I’m still trying to live in the moment. Lately I’ve been feeling like Rapunzel from Tangled when she sings about wondering when her life will begin. I’m still working to be happy now, rather than just waiting for the life I’ve dreamed of. Steve has been amazing through this whole ordeal. He has listened to me, cried with me, and been very patient with me. I am very grateful to have my best friend at my side through all of this. We haven’t given up. Our doctors haven’t given up. I’ve been given new medications to supplement those I already have. We continue to pray daily for our future family. I’m starting to move on again, but that doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten my sweet little babies. I am a mother of 2 darling angels. I don’t know when I will see them again, but I know they are mine. I love them each very much. I think of them every day. I pray for them every day. I know they are part of my family.

My heart aches when I think of the countless women who have suffered more than me. I send prayers and thoughts to any women struggling infertility or miscarriages. The pain is awful, and no one should have to endure it. But please know you’re not alone. I pray for any of you who may have gone through this. You’re in my thoughts.

Chocolates

I feel very grown up today. I am making chocolates. By myself. In my own little home.

I make chocolates every year with my family, so that part isn't new. But I've never actually done the entire process without my mom/sisters. I am very glad that when I was home for Thanksgiving I did some chocolates with my mom and Berkeley. There are some constants involved with chocolates that simply make them marvelous. Throw on Muppet Christmas Carol, sing along, dip to your heart's content, then lick your fingers when finished. Bliss. I'll surely be missing my family tomorrow, but I'm excited to attempt this on my own. And with Steve of course! Amazing Steve, who went out to the garage to scour our boxes for my candy thermometer, only to then find it for me 20 minutes later... in the kitchen. I KNEW I wouldn't be crazy enough to pack that precious item away in the garage, but I just couldn't find it! I'm sure lucky Steve's around.

So this year on my agenda- Mint truffles, Turtles, Cinnamon Bears, Cherry Cordials. Yum!! Pictures to come!! Now, I'd better go work on those centers so I can enjoy a dipping extravaganza tomorrow!!

(Please excuse my weird look in this picture. This wasn't a Christmas chocolate dipping, it was in the middle of the summer. I was providing chocolates for a wedding. It was warm out, so I had to dip from about 4am-8am. I was tired.)

I am thankful for this awesome thanksgiving challenge. I am glad I participated, and got back into the habit of blogging. Hopefully that means I will be blogging more often. :) Thank you for joining me on this fun adventure of gratitude. I can't believe the month is over, but I can't wait to see what December brings!

Thankful Thoughts 28

:November 28:

I am thankful for my oven. It is a marvelous thing. (and it's full sized!!) A few weeks ago, the heating element on our oven broke and had to be replaced. The few days that we were oven-less were quite difficult. Because I LOVE to cook. I love to use my oven. I loved making bread today, although I don't think putting the crock pot lid in the oven was my smartest move... I now have a very melted handle... :) But I sure do love my Full Sized oven. :)

Thankful Thoughts 27

:November 27:

I am thankful for my Savior. I have relied on Him a lot in the past few months, and I have felt His love. I am grateful for the knowledge I have of the atonement. I know that my sins can be forgiven because of my Savior. I also know that He felt all the pain I ever have or ever will feel. He knows. He always knows.

Thankful Thoughts 26

:November 26:

I am thankful for the lights at Temple Square. And good friends to enjoy them with. What a fabulous night with Jeff, Hillaree, and Briley. Thanks for spending the evening with us and helping us get in the Holiday spirit!!

Also, I am thankful for our cars. While I'm not exactly looking forward to the drive home tomorrow, I sure am glad that the nearly 400 miles will take under 6 hours. Cars are great things.

Thankful Thoughts 24

:November 24:

I am thankful for Thanksgiving. There are so many things in life to be grateful for, and I am glad we have a day dedicated to remembering and celebrating them. How awesome is it that we have a day all about being grateful. Sometimes it can be easy to forget all that we should give thanks for, and I'm always glad of the reminder. I hope we can all take a little time every day to share our thankfulness.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Thankful Thoughts 23

:November 23:

I am thankful that my mom taught me to cook. I've been helping my mom in the kitchen ever since I can remember, and I've learned some great lessons along the way. I was blessed with a mom who is a fabulous cook. I aspire to be like her, and I like to think that every meal I get a little closer. :) I love cooking, and I am very grateful that I have the ability to make yummy food for my family.

Thankful Thoughts 22

:November 22:

I am thankful for the I-80 rest stop in Wyoming at exit 144. I had to use the restroom, and I was convinced I would have to wait the 40 miles to get to Rock Springs. To be honest, I even said a little prayer informing Heavenly Father that I didn't remember if there were any other stops before then, so he was welcome to just throw in a rest stop anywhere for me. :) Lo and behold, one mile later we stumbled on exit 144. It was grand. I very much appreciated this break on our trek from Wyoming to Utah. And now I'm thankful to be home. Yay!

Thankful Thoughts 21

:November 21:

I am thankful for the cooperation of the weather. I-80 has already closed several times due to snow and wind this year, and I am glad that it looks like the weather will let us drive home to Salt Lake tomorrow without incident. Huzzah!!

Thankful Thoughts 20

:November 20:

I am thankful for this next week. It is a 2 day work week. Hooray!! There has been some crazy stuff going on at work this past week, and I've been using lots of my prep time to help out. So this past week feels like it has gone on forever. And ever. I am very grateful that this week I only have 2 days, and then a nice, relaxing break in Utah. Yay!!

Thankful Thoughts 19

:November 19:

I am thankful for our Halloween pumpkin. We never got around to carving our pumpkin this year. So when we decided to pull out the Christmas decorations today, I decided the pumpkin had to go. Steve chopped it up and we made a bunch of pumpkin puree. Yum! I've made bread and muffins today, plus I had tons left over to freeze. I sure do love pumpkin.

Thankful Thoughts 18

:November 18:

I am thankful for prayer. I have had a lot of prayers on my behalf the past few months, and I felt their power. I am grateful for the opportunity to commune with a loving Heavenly Father. He is there. He listens. And he blesses.

Thankful Thoughts 17

:November 17:

I am thankful for sunlight. Steve and I went on a run after work today. We got home around 5:30, and it looked like it was the dead of night. I'm not used to being on the far East end of the time zone. It starts getting dark at 4:30. And it's weird. So I am incredibly thankful for sunlight during the rest of the day!!

Thankful Thoughts 15

:November 15:

I am thankful for yummy food. I have had to work late the past few days, and we had our ward Thanksgiving dinner tonight. It was very nice not to have to worry much about dinner prep/clean up. I just had to make a small side dish. And then enjoy a marvelous feast. I was very thankful for that tonight.

Thankful Thoughts 14

:November 14:

I am thankful for my coat. Yes. My big poofy winter coat. It has been very cold the past few weeks, and I have loved snuggling up in my coat at recess. Plus today was Super duper windy, so I was grateful to have my coat on my body. Steve and I went to choir tonight, and on the way back to the car (a whole 100 feet...) we commented on how hard it would be for the pioneers to cross Wyoming. I never really thought about it until now, since I live here and all. But weather here can be brutal! Snow, freezing temperatures, and insane wind! The highways close on a regular basis due to the combination of snow and wind. We drove through a white out just the other night getting home from Wal Mart. I can't imagine walking through that. For days on end. With no coat. Yes. Today I am thankful for my coat.

Thankful Thoughts 13

:November 13:

I am thankful for my primary class. I teach the Valiant 8 class. (8-9 year olds) They are absolutely fabulous. I enjoy seeing them each Sunday and spending 2 hours of the block with them. I am also thankful that Steve's calling doesn't require Sunday time, so he is able to come to class with me. It has been great having him there as well. I love primary!

Thankful Thoughts 12

:November 12:

I am thankful for running.
I love to run. I haven't been cleared to run for a while, but I got the okay last week and I went out for a beautiful run this morning. It was cold, windy, and perfect. Running is very therapeutic for me. I love pushing my body as far as I possibly can, and then a little more. I also love how accomplished I feel after a nice run. Yep. I sure do love running.

Thankful Thoughts 8

:November 8:

I am thankful for my job. Although it was not at all what I expected to find when I sought out a teaching position in Laramie, I am learning a lot from my job this year. And really, who wouldn't love to speak Spanish with the kiddos, sing fun songs and learn basic music with the kiddos, do awesome art projects like such with the kiddos,

and have awesome PE experiences with the kiddos! (Gymnastics for the past 5 weeks, Ice Skating 5 weeks after Thanksgiving, Rock Climbing to follow...)

We love to play in the pit at the end of gymnastics. :)

Thankful Thoughts 7

:November 7:
I am thankful for music. I love all kinds of music. I love playing my violin. I love teaching my new little violin student. I love teaching all kinds of music at school. I love singing with the civic chorus. I love listening to music while I clean the house. My favorites are Mindy Gledhill, Meaghan Smith, and Priscilla Ahn. Yep. Music makes me happy. Music helps me when I feel sad. Music heals me. I love music.

Thankful Thoughts 6

:November 6:

Today's a bonus. 2 thoughts. :)

I am thankful for awesome friends. I have many of them. All over the country. And I think they are spectacular. I love that we can meet up with friends that we haven't seen in years, and still have a blast. Thanks for letting us know you were in town Greg and Caitlin! We had such fun getting hot chocolate and pie with you last night! -Anyone else ever in Laramie... let us know!! :)

I am thankful for electricity. Although it was kind of fun use candles for a few hours last night, it sure was nice when the heat kicked back on in the middle of the night. :)

Okay. I'm back. The past few months have been long and hard, but I'll write more about them later. Right now, I'm going to join in the fun! Charlotte and Leslie have both inspired me to start my own list of Thanks on my blog. I know I have a few days catching up to do, but here we go!!

Well, thanks for humoring me for my first 5 days... I'll be back with more Thankful Thoughts!!

Yikes!!

I can't be failing at this whole blogging every Sunday thing already! Okay, apparently I am. But in my defense, I don't really have anything too incredibly interesting to say. I started work this past week. It's been a very interesting experience thus far. I'm going to be working in a Montessori school, and I'm not Montessori trained. It's been interesting to learn more about Montessori and see how it fits in with my view of education. It's super exciting to be starting up a new school! And by exciting, I mean totally crazy! The school is under construction, so we're going to be in the Archery room at the community center (same building) until December. Unfortunately, they're still waiting on a part for the fire alarm/sprinkler system in the archery room, and school starts Thursday. So, the Methodist church has been so kind as to lend us a couple rooms in their building. We're planning to be there for the first 6 1/2 days of school. That is unless the sprinkler part comes in... Yeah. We're taking it day by day. I'm still not entirely sure what my job is going to look like. But I don't feel too bad, because I don't know that anyone else does either. :) I'm just super excited to get the kids here. Because really, kids are kids. The reason I went into education was for the kids. So I can't wait to meet them!
Steve's been going to trainings and such for the past week and half, and he starts full time at his school tomorrow. Hooray! We're both excited to get this school year started and see what our new jobs have in store for us! I'll try to have something more exciting next week... maybe pictures... :) Good luck to everyone with the start of a new school year!!

Tuesday, August 9, 2011

Okay. Sorry this took me a little longer to get posted than I thought. I had a difficult time getting all the pictures on here. On that note, I warn you there are lots of pictures on this post. And probably lots of rambling about our trip. So if you want to skip over it, feel free. :) Our trip back east started Saturday, July 30th. We flew out of Denver, so we decided to stop by the Denver temple, since that is our new temple. It is beautiful, but it was super busy! I can see why they need a new temple in Fort Collins.
Saturday night we arrived in Charlotte, North Carolina. Stacey, Devon, and Devon's cute nephew Charlie picked us up and we went to Smash Burger. Yum! On Sunday we went to church, relaxed, and enjoyed a yummy dinner cooked by Devon. Monday, Steve and I took off to explore Charlotte. We spent some time at the Billy Graham museum/library. It was pretty awesome. We even got little cards to sign and carry with us to remember the day we were saved. :) Here's Steve walking out of the last room in the museum, and me in front of the main building.
Tuesday morning, Stacey and I went to get pedicures. I'd never had a pedicure before, and it was pretty great! We wandered around the mall, got her a beautiful dress to wear to the temple, and ate some yummy frozen yogurt. Then it was time to go back to their place to get ready to head down to Columbia.
Steve and I were lucky enough to drive with Stacey on our way down to the temple. We took this picture while we were waiting at the drive thru at McDonalds. :)
The Columbia, SC temple is beautiful! And very small!

Hey look! They're married!!
We got some group shots outside the temple, and Steve was photographer and took a few other great pictures of Stacey and Devon. After a few minutes though, we were all way too hot and decided to get back in the cars.
So we drove to Charleston and checked into our hotels. Side note here, our hotel was bad news!! It was not exactly super clean. And it didn't have a do not disturb sign. Which, apparently, we needed. When we were gone on Wednesday, we came back to find Steve's bag wide open. And when we were gone for only a little bit early Thursday morning, we came back to find 3 of our 4 towels had gone missing. Weird. Anyway, back to Tuesday night. We met back with everyone and Devon's mom treated us to TGI Fridays. It was yummy!
Wednesday morning was Devon and Stacey's ring ceremony. And it was on board a Carnival cruise ship. Awesome! We spent the hour before the ceremony wandering around the ship.
Then we attended the beautiful ceremony.
And ate a super fancy dinner in a fancy dining room.
Steve was even brave enough to eat his whole pile of creamed spinach stuff all at once. And this was even after baby Sammy had tried a small bite and made the funniest most disgusted face. I tried to take a picture of the dessert, but it turned out kind of weird. But it was SO good! Passion fruit goodness with berries and yummy juice.... and also super yummy cake.
After dinner, we were kicked off the ship so they could get ready to set sail! Thursday morning we were on our own. We started the day by running across this cool bridge over the Charleston Bay.
This is a horrible picture of me, but I am just showing that we really did run. Please ignore my crazy facial expression.
Then we packed up our stuff into Stacey's car (Thanks for letting us borrow it!!) and headed North to Myrtle Beach. On our way, we stopped at the Hampton Plantation. It was neat, but within seconds we were eaten by mosquitoes!! I think between the two of us we received at least 20-30 bites within about 5 seconds. It was CRAZY! Between the heat, humidity, and bugs, I don't know how slaves worked on those plantations. My heart goes out to them even more after experiencing just a few minutes there. As Steve was taking this picture, I was calling out for him to hurry up because mosquitoes were starting to find me again.
We kept driving and made it to Myrtle Beach. Our hotel here was still cheap, but SO much better than the one in Charleston! And the location... Awesome!!! This is the view from just outside the hotel. Perfect.
Steve got to experience the Atlantic Ocean for the first time!
And my feet were super happy.
We spent the rest of Thursday on the beach. Friday, we decided to do some exploring. We walked down to the main part of Myrtle Beach and walked through lots of gift shops. At my favorite one (The Gay Dolphin) we found many very random treasures. Including these magnets...
Cool huh!? They also had some from other states/cities nowhere remotely near Myrtle Beach. We spent the rest of Friday afternoon playing in the waves. I didn't really get any pictures, but trust me, it was great! Saturday morning we decided to get up really early to see the sunrise. We missed the actual rise part, but it was still beautiful!
Then we went for a barefoot run on the beach.
We left Myrtle Beach that morning, and headed back to Charlotte, NC to start our journey home. Unfortunately, our flight from Charlotte to Atlanta was delayed because of a storm in Atlanta. We finally made it, but when we landed in Atlanta, we found that we had missed our connecting flight... by 5 minutes. :( So we tried to get on Standby for the last flight to Denver that night. We started as numbers 40 and 41 on the standby list, and we made it all the way to 20 and 21... but we didn't make the flight. So, we made ourselves "comfortable" and got a couple hours of sleep.
*Note I'm wearing Steve's suit coat... it was FREEZING!* Our new flight was scheduled to leave Atlanta at 9:40 Sunday morning. But we were super lucky and were 2 of the 3 lucky individuals to make it on standby on to the 8:20 flight. We got home around 1:00 and napped the rest of the day. :) We had a super fun vacation, and I'm glad we were able to see Devon and Stacey, and also spend some time with just the two of us before school starts. :)

Coming...

I originally planned to spend this afternoon typing up a marvelous post all about our adventures through the Carolinas this past week. But that was when we were going to get home last night. Since our flight was delayed because of weather, we missed our connecting flight and were stuck in the Atlanta airport overnight. So, I spent this afternoon taking a nap instead. In case any of you are absolutely dying to know all about our trip, come back tomorrow. I'll tell you all about it in the morning! :)

Welcome to Laramie!

I'm back! So, when we were getting ready to leave Logan, Hillaree and I promised each other we would blog every Sunday. Last Sunday she was great and posted... but we didn't have internet yet. :( But I am determined to redeem myself, so here is my first post from the city of Laramie! We moved out here July 15th and so far, we're loving it! Steve and I both start work on August 15th. Him as a school psychologist at Linford Elementary, and me as a PE/music/art/Spanish teacher at the brand new Montessori School. We're both super excited! We've spent the past 2 weeks unpacking and exploring this new city. We've also started a kind of game... seeing how often we can find the bucking bronco around town. They are everywhere! In the past few weeks we've also started getting to know a few other couples in the neighborhood. I'm looking forward to making some new great friends, although I really miss everyone back in Utah!!
Anyway- I took a few pictures of our place... so that just like when we moved to Logan, I can give you the grand tour!! Welcome to our little apartment!
We'll start the tour with the outside of our wonderful home, taken from Google Maps. It's a small house divided into 2 apartments. We are in the basement, and the entrance is the door you can see. Let's head on in...
...and we can proceed to the basement. On the right, you'll see an entrance to the garage. We are lucky to have it, so we have lots of storage in there. The neighbors upstairs do lots of car work, so all their tools are in there. No room for actual cars though. When you go down the stairs, you'll want to take a left...
and you'll be in the shared laundry room. See that door there, that's our door. Hooray!
You'll walk right in to the living room. Turn to your left, and you see the dining area. I'm so glad we have a real dining area... that's not part of the kitchen! Turn the corner to your left and you'll see the kitchen.
Take a moment and admire a few things with me. Number one- dishwasher! Number two- full sized stove! Number three- a fridge that is taller than me! Did I mention the dishwasher!! I love this kitchen. There's not a ton of storage space, but we were able to fit everything we needed. Let's head out of the kitchen and take a right.
The dining area is to your left now. It's all just one big long room. There's a nice storage closet down there at the end, and if we keep walking past it we'll end up in the office.
This room is home to our computer, Steve's school stuff, and my sewing stuff. Also, the three boxes we haven't yet unpacked. They're all old papers and school stuff, and we just can't bring ourselves to sort through them quite yet. Maybe in the next few months... :)
Around the corner, we have the bathroom. It's quite small, and the shower is only a corner shower, but it works just fine!
And last stop, at the end of the mini hall is the bedroom. I love the bigger windows in these two back rooms. It makes it feel not so much like a basement. One of my favorite things about the apartment so far has been the trains! We live pretty close to the freeway and train tracks. And it is a busy train yard!! Every couple hours, including all night, we can hear the trains and their whistles. I love it!

So. That's the apartment! Now... who's coming for a visit!?! :)

Roller Coasters

>

I've been thinking about roller coasters, and how they relate to life. Weird, I know. But usually I just hear people talking about roller coasters when referring to the ups and downs and unexpected turns of life. Which is great, but I feel like Steve and I are at another point of the roller coaster. Have you ever been on Wicked at Lagoon?

It's a fun one! And right at the top of the hill, you freeze for just a split second. And look down.

And you know it's going to be good and exciting, and just perhaps a bit unexpected. But for that split second, you're frozen. That's where I feel right now. I know good things are coming! (Intern for Steve, moving, end of the school year) But right now, it's just the anticipation. I don't know where Steve will intern. I have no idea where we're moving to. There are lots of surprises in store. Just like the twists and turns of a roller coaster. But, I do know that it will be fun, and exciting, and it will be over all too fast. So now, I'll just take a deep breath and enjoy this roller coaster ride!
