Okay- I've got lots of other things to post about, so I'm going to try to finish up my Hawaii posts today. :) On our fifth day in Hawaii, we woke up early to go watch the sunrise at Laie Point. Unfortunately, it was really cloudy. But it was still very beautiful.
My dad took this next picture, and sent it to me with a caption calling it the cover of an album from the 60s. I think it's pretty sweet. And totally not staged.
Steve decided to go all the way out to the edge of the point. He got some fun pictures, but we were worried about him getting wet. My dad snapped this great picture right as Steve came scrambling back up the hill.
After we decided the sun had come up, we were quite hungry. So we went and got some breakfast at the Hukilau cafe. Yes- go ahead and sing the song in your head now... I sang it all morning! This is also the cafe from 50 first dates. It looks nothing like it inside, but I guess they changed it up for the movie and filmed on location.
I orded coconut pancakes, and then swapped bites with Steve for some macadamia nut pancake, and Maggie for some banana pancake. SO good!!
After going back to the condo and getting ready for the day, we went off to visit the Dole Plantation. We learned a lot about pineapples- did you know it takes one pineapple about 2 years to grow! And we had some yummy Dole Whip goodness. Mmmmmm....
Then we spent the afternoon at Waimea Falls. (Yes, it's right by Waimea Bay from the Beach Boys song) The entire hike up to the waterfall is gorgeous! Tons of beautiful flowers and neat old huts and stuff. We wore our swimsuits so we could swim when we finally got up to the falls, but because of the recent rainstorms/flooding/murky water, the falls were closed to swimming.
