On the morning of the 14th, Steve and I decided that we had not seen enough of the beach. This beautiful, empty beach was where they filmed part of Pirates of the Caribbean 3 and Lost. It was within easy walking distance of our condo, so we set out and spent the morning on the beach.
On our way back, we stopped by the Banyan tree from Lost. It's Huge!!
That afternoon, while Maggie was in class, Brian offered to take us rock climbing. We drove along the coast and then climbed a mountain. Here's the view from where we started climbing.
Steve made it all the way to the top! At this point, Brian was yelling at him to "Just slam dunk it!" He basically had to grab the ledge above his head and hoist himself up to stand on it.
The rest of us climbed too! Berkeley and I didn't make it all the way up, but Brian made it in probably about 30 seconds.
And here's the mountain we climbed! I honestly think that was almost the neatest part! It wasn't really much of a trail, just charging up the mountain! You can see the cliff face near the top, that's where we climbed.
We built up an appetite with all our climbing, so we met my parents at the Aloha General Store for some shave ice. I think the shave ice was better here. The flavors were a lot more intense. SO Good!
Then we made a pit stop at Ted's Bakery, where we got a coconut pie and a chocolate coconut pie. Yum!
We met up with Maggie and had dinner at Giovanni's Shrimp Truck/Kahuku Grill. After dinner, Steve and I were dropped off at a shack on the beach. For our anniversary, my parents surprised us with a night on the beach. I LOVED this little hut! You could see the ocean from inside, and it was very relaxing to listen to the waves all night.
Before we turned in, we made a fire using driftwood. We had been told that it was nearly impossible to start a fire here, so we decided to prove our awesome-ness by making a fire. Unfortunately, we didn't have anything to roast over it... so we just stared at it for a while. Then we sat by the beach for a while listening to the waves until bedtime.
