The First Day of School!!

I wish I had pictures of my classroom--I will get some soon. I had my first day of school today! It was wonderful! The craziest thing that happened all day was a minor confusion with one of my students. I met 16 of the 19 of them yesterday at the open house. So when I saw a strange girl approaching me I wasn't too surprised, till she told me her name, and I didn't have her on my class list. So- I put her in my extra desk I had set up and we went about the morning. A few minutes later my mentor teacher came in with a post it note, left it for me and I found out that this girl was actually the girl who I thought was absent...she was going by her middle name. It was kind of crazy, but all is good now, and I'm great if that's the craziest thing that happened!! I also had recess duty today and we had 2 little boys, one from my class, run full speed into each other. The poor little boys each have goose eggs the size of golf balls on their heads. :) But they're troopers.
Anyway- other than that, the day was pretty calm. I LOVE my students!! They are so cute! They love to talk, and my biggest challenge today was keeping them on task. But they were fun, and I can't wait for this year with them! I heard all of the other teachers talking about how hard it was to fill the day. I was the total opposite!! I had a hard time fitting everything in! I had to postpone a couple activities until tomorrow because I just didn't fit them into the day today! I don't know how I'm going to manage when I'm actually teaching lots of curriculum stuff!! Everything will work out though. :)
Well- that's about it! I'm now sitting...and will be for the rest of the evening. :) I thought my shoes were more broken in than they were, and my feet are sore and beginning to blister. :) So, in short- I love being a teacher!!

Yay I'm glad that your first day of school as Mrs. Corry went very well. I definitely can't wait to see pictures of your classroom stuff! And of course to hear more adventures of teaching.
